Security Awareness Training

Security Awareness TrainingThe California Community Colleges Information Security Center takes the security of its colleges, staff, and student information extremely seriously.

To help protect our confidential assets we have developed an active Security Awareness program to provide user awareness education through self-paced online training. While our objective is to meet all compliance and legal requirements, our overarching goal is to educate and protect our staff and administration by changing their online behaviors and encouraging safe practices.

Who Should Take Security Awareness Training?

Designed as a professional development program, security awareness training is offered to administrators and staff within the California Community Colleges, and in particular those who handle secure information or deal with private student data, personal identity information, research data, social security numbers, or financial aid data as part of their job functions.

Cornerstone Integration

As of July 1, 2020, our security awareness training modules are available to California community colleges via the CCC Vision Resource Center (VRC). For campuses that have not integrated with the VRC's Cornerstone LMS, the courses will remain available in the SANS Virtual Learning Environment through February 2021.

In order to provide this important security awareness training to campus IT users beyond February 2021, colleges will need to integrate with the Cornerstone LMS. As this process takes up to 90 days, we encourage you to begin the integration as soon as possible.
